'Thankful': Steve Kerr Clowns Republicans With Sarcastic Election Takeaway

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr mocked Donald Trump and Republicans on Wednesday with one matter they’ve largely dismissed following the president-elect’s win over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I’m just thankful that there wasn’t any voting fraud this time, you know,” Kerr sarcastically told reporters before the Warriors’ win over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

“Last time, I mean, all those illegal immigrants who crashed the border and raped and murdered people and then voted six times. That was unfortunate. But thankfully, this time, everything was clean so it’s great that every election has been really valid except for that last one four years ago,” he added.

Kerr emphasized his joke by adding that he had a “twinkle in my eye” while talking about voter fraud claims, which Trump and GOP officials notably spread after his 2020 election loss.

Trump laid the groundwork to repeat similar claims prior to this year’s contest, but the president-elect and his allies have essentially kept mum on the topic since results started to arrive on Tuesday.

Kerr, a frequent Trump critic, knocked Trump as he backed Harris during a speech at the Democratic National Convention this summer.

“I know, very well, that speaking about politics these days comes with risks. I can see the ‘Shut up and whistle’ tweets being fired off right now. But I also knew, as soon as I was asked, that it was too important as an American citizen not to speak up in an election of this magnitude,” he said.

On Wednesday, Kerr emphasized his belief in democracy and wished Trump — and the country — well over the next four years.

“I want nothing but the best for us, and it’s a complex world. We’ve got a lot of interesting stuff between wars abroad and the global economy that has shifted everything in terms of what it means for our citizens and their day-to-day lives,” he said.

“I’m well aware I live in a bubble and I’m one of the luckiest people on Earth and so I want what’s best for us and I hope Trump can deliver.”
