Rahm, who won the Masters in 2023, shot a 39 on the last nine holes to finish out of medal contention. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler of the U.S. shot a sizzling 29 on the same holes to win gold. Tommy Fleetwood of Britain took silver and Hideki Matsuyama of Japan took bronze.
Analyst Brandel Chamblee got a little harsh in describing the Spaniard’s performance.
“I don’t know what the word is because I not only feel like I let myself down, but to just not get it done for the whole country of Spain, it’s a lot more painful than I would like it to be,” Rahm said, per AFP.
